In Australia, it is starting to move towards the colder months. Although we are still having those beautiful autumn days, the ones that make you forget the cold to come, there is still the cold undertone winter. Today, I thought I would tell you how my makeup usually changes as winter comes along.
Firstly, everyone knows that skin gets drier during winter. Although I have definitely become better at moisturising, it is definitely something I need to I everyday during winter. I think I have mentioned before, but my favourite moisturiser is teh Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion. I will also be using Lush’s Lip Scrub more, as well as Lucas’s Paw Paw Ointment (which is always an essential).
As for makeup, my eyeshadow always moves to warmer colours in winter, and the perfect pallet for this is Urban Decay’s Naked 3 pallet. I have also fallen in love with brown eye-liner. It is so much softer and more natural than black and makes beautiful, warm eye looks. Too-Face’s Better Than Sex mascara is a beautiful mascara that has already become a staple.
As for lips, darker lips become more easy to wear in winter, because I usually wear darker clothes and therefore they don’t clash. Revlon’s Colorburst Matte Balm in Standout and Rimmel’s Lasting Finish lip pencil in Indian Pink are two perfect colours for winter lips. I have also recently fallen in love with Rimmel’s Lasting Finish lip pencil in Wild Clover for a more natural look.
As for perfume, in winter I tend to go for the less fruity scents. I love the smell of Taylor Swift’s Wonderstruck all year round, but even more so in winter.
I hope that you have enjoyed reading about how my makeup routine will be changing from summer to winter!
I don’t know if I have said this before, but I LOVE matte lips. I don’t really like lipstick that isn’t matte because I find that the colour is less intense and I find them really sticky. So today I thought I would share some of the matte lip products that I use and whether or not I like them.
Rimmel Kate Mass Lipstick: I really love this product! I think that it is a really nice formula- it feels so creamy and nice, even thought it is a matte colour. I have the colour 19
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Pencil: Although this isn’t technically a matte lipstick, it does come out matte. I love using lip liners to colour in my whole lip because I think it applies perfectly and makes your lips look really good. This one also lasts so ages!
Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream: I had heard so many good things about this so I thought I would give it a go, and I like it! I usually don’t like lip glosses at all, because I find them so so sticky. But, because this has a matte finish, it is perfect. it is easy to apply and looks pretty. However, I have found that it doesn’t last all that long.
Revlon Colorburst Matte Lip Balm: Love. That is the only word to describe these. The colour pay off is AMAZING, they last for ages, they apply smoothly and easily and they look so pretty. Yes.
So there is a small review of some matte lip products. Let me know what products you love because I am always on the lookout!
So Priceline had a 40% off sale and I didn’t get as much as I should have, but I will go through what I got.
Firstly, I got Savvy’s Natural Pressed Powder. My old powder broke when I dropped it and so I needed a new one. This one was a lot cheaper than the Rimmel one I usually use ($6 compared to $13) and so I thought I would try it out.
I also got Rimmel’s Exaggerate Eye Definer in Rich Brown. I love the black one I have and I’m sure this will also be great.
I have heard so much about Australis’s Velourlips, which is a matte lip cream and so I grabbed some inHo-Chee-Min. This is a really nice bright colour which will help me hold on to summer.
As Essie nail polish was part of the sale, I had to get some and so I got the colour Eternal Optimist (which I first thought was called Elephant Optimist). This is a pretty pink pink nude and I am already in love with it. I have been gravitating more towards nude toned nails at the moment and this is perfect.
Finally, I have decided to do something about my terrible cuticles, so I grabbed Sally Hansen’s Cuticle Rehab. I will do a review post for this in a few weeks when I’ve been using it for long enough.
So that’s everything I got. Sorry I haven’t posted for almost a month, I have been really swamped and also have no creativity. But I will try.
Today I have a recipe for Impossible Quiche, AKA the easiest quiche in the world. My dad said its called that because it is impossible to screw up. For today’s post, I’m going to post it all in pictures, just for something different. Hope you enjoy it!
Today is my final post of my makeup shelf mini-series! I am going to be talking about my eyeshadow pallets. Just a warning, I am literally obsessed with Too-Faced.
To start with, I will talk about the Too-Faced Joy to the Girls pallet. This pallet was a Christmas edition, and it is so gorgeous! All of the colours are really pretty, however, not all of them are heaps wearable as they are really out there. But it is still beautiful.
Next is the Too Faced Sugar and Spice pallet, another Christmas edition pallet. Once again, gorgeous colours, but all of them are really wearable! So so gorgeous!
Ah, this beautiful Too Faced Natural Eyes pallet. I definitely use this most, because it is a natural eyes pallet. It has the perfect balance of matte and shimmery shadows that blend so well and look amazing on. However, I think some of the colours are different from the ones in the pallets I have seen in the shops? I don’t know what that’s about… oh well.
My last pallet is Urban Decay’s Naked 3. This rose gold nude pallet is so so pretty! It creates the most girls and romantic eye looks and is beautiful!
I also keep this near my pallets- the Rimmel Stay Matte pallet. I love this- it works really well to hold my makeup in place. Mine is all cracked at the moment, so I will need to get a new one.
I hope you enjoyed this post and this series!
Hello everyone! Today I have another recipe. This is for banana bread, but with the added extra of a cinnamon crust. This just adds something a little extra to the banana bread and is really yummy!
For the banana bread, you will need
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup of self raising flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 125 grams of melted butter
- 2 whisked eggs
- 2 mashed bananas (the bananas should be a little over-ripe)
For the cinnamon crust, you will need
- 1/2 cup of icing sugar
- 1/2 cup of plain flour
- 4 tablespoons of melted butter
- 1/2 tsp if cinnamon
First, preheat your oven to 180 degrees and line a rectangle bread shaped tin.
Then you want to combine the dry ingredients to make the banana bread (flours, sugar and cinnamon). Once these are combined, whisk the egg and butter together. Make sure the butter is slightly cooled and do this quickly so that you don’t scramble the eggs in the warm butter. Add this to the dry ingredients and stir it in. Make sure you try this, because it is delicious!! Then the mashed banana and mix it in. Pour this into the cake tin.
To make the crust, mix all the ingredients together and sprinkle it on top of the uncooked banana bread.
Put this into the oven for about 15 minutes and then turn the oven down to about 150 degrees Celcius. You don’t want the crust to burn. Keep checking it every 15 or so minutes until a fork comes out clean.
I think the cinnamon crust adds a really nice and different flare to a basic banana bread and I hope you enjoy it too!
Hello everyone! Today I am going through the drawer where I keep all of my lipstick and I am going to go through all the different products I keep in this drawer.
To start with, I have two tinted lip balms. The first is CoverGirl’s Smoochies Lipslick in the colour #luv u. This is a nice deep pink colour and looks nice and natural on. The second is Maybelline’s Baby Lips Color in Berry Crush. Another really natural looking tinted balm which tastes and smells amazing.
Next, I have two lip pencils by Rimmel. I use these to colour in my entire lip and they last really long, and because they are so precise, they are really easy to use. I have the colours Wild Clover, which is a beautiful nude pink, and Indian Pink which is a really deep, dark pink.
Next, i have a few lipsticks. I will often lean towards Rimmel lipsticks, which is reflected in my small collection. In the top row, I have Drop of Sherry, Kate Moss 19 and Guest list. The Kate Moss one is a beautiful, natural matte colour and the other two are very similar but have a shine. In the next row I have Latino, which is a shimmery pink and Maybelline’s Warm Latte which is a really nice, shimmery brown.
Finally, I have some lip crayons. In the top row I have two Rimmel Colour Rush Lip Crayons. The orange colour, On Fire, is a coral colour and the pink, Rumour Has It, is a bright pink. The bottom are Revlon’s Colorburst matte balms. These are so amazing and yeah, ah. I have the colours Elusive, Sultry and Standout.
That is my lipstick collection! It isn’t very extensive, but I am definitely more of an eye makeup person.
